Uzbekistan creates a satellite system of drought monitoring for Central Asia
Uzbekistan, Tashkent - AN Podrobno.uz. Central Asian countries will receive a new tool for driving the consequences of drought - a satellite monitoring system, which is created by Uzbekistan together with the Economic and Social Commission of the UN in Asia and the Pacific Ocean (Escato).
The system will collect data on the state of reservoirs, soil and vegetation using the technologies of remote probing of the Earth. It will include a module of operational drought and cloud platform for monitoring agricultural vehicles.
According to Uzbekosmos, the project will allow the regional countries to more effectively manage water resources, reduce the damage from droughts and increase the stability of the agricultural sector to climate change. Experts from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will receive access to the system.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan intends to first send its own scientific and technical satellite into space. The launch is planned for 2028. Now the country is negotiating with SpaceX, and students from Uzbekistan studying in Japan are engaged in the preparation of the apparatus.
