Uzbekistan has learned how to save over 10 billion cubic meters of water annually
Uzbekistan ensures annual savings of more than 10 billion cubic meters of water resources, said the country`s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He clarified that this is happening due to the introduction of modern technologies and modernization of infrastructure, Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
At a meeting of the Council of Heads of State - founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the head of the republicnotedthat by 2030 this figure is planned to increase to 15 billion cubic meters. In a short period of time, water-saving technologies were introduced on 60% of all irrigated lands, and concreting of irrigation canals reached 40%, he specified.
Thanks to the modernization of pumping stations, energy consumption in the water sector has been reduced by almost 30%. A unified digital database is being formed that covers more than 600 thousand water users and over 4 million hectares of irrigated land. All these measures are comprehensive and consistent and are enshrined in the Water Code adopted last year, the head of state said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyevflew outto the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, on a working visit the day before, April 21. He participates in the Regional Environmental Summit and the meeting of the Council of Heads of Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
