Uzbekistan and China expand cooperation in energy sector
The 8th meeting of the subcommittee on energy of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Tashkent. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zh. Mirzamakhmudov and the Chairman of the State Energy Administration of China Wang Hongzhi. Representatives of relevant ministries and large energy companies of both countries took part in the negotiations.
The meeting participants noted that in recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the energy sector has reached a high level of development thanks to the implementation of strategic initiatives and agreements reached at the highest political level.
The importance of joint projects in the oil and gas sector, electric power industry and renewable energy sources was emphasized as a key factor in strengthening bilateral economic ties.
During the discussions, special attention was paid to promising areas of cooperation, including projects on hydrocarbon production, construction of underground gas storage facilities and modernization of main gas pipelines.
Initiatives for the development of solar and wind energy using advanced Chinese technologies, as well as issues of energy system integration and training of qualified personnel, were separately considered.
The parties also agreed to continue the exchange of experience in the field of digitalization of energy infrastructure, standardization of industry processes and improvement of management of energy facilities. The next meeting of the subcommittee is scheduled to be held in China.
